Good CRM software is 100% about the right process

As a CRM advocate for the past 12 years, I’d recommend almost any CRM software over not having one at all.CRM process

Success can be had with all flavours of CRM software. The key is clearly understanding the requirements and in some cases challenging them.

Good CRM is 100% about the right process. Too often companies either fail to map or map a CRM tool to a current process , then run into problems when upon further review it’s realized that this only highlighted problems within the current process.

I’d argue that many tools can be used effectively and at a fair price if you determine the true need and match to the CRM software’s focus.

When asked what they are looking for in there CRM software, small companies will typically say “Somewhere to store our contacts so we can call them up, keep notes.”  If this is your sales process then all well and good, there are lots of software options and to be honest this could be achieved in Outlook or gmail.

CRM software means different things to different people. ForEnterprisecustomers CRM will include multiple departments, sites and focus but for most it is a tool driven and used by sales.

So ask yourself if good CRM is about the process should you not select a CRM tool that supports that process?

An account driven process will require a different focus to say lead follow-up. Make sure you know what you want to achieve and then make sure your tool has it covered.
